You don’t have to wait for a download to finish, your DVR to record, or the show to come on the air.Roku products bring the fun and convenience of streaming to your big-screen TV. The choice of what to watch and what to pay for is up to you. We like to call it TV on your terms.
What type of Roku streaming devices are available?
There are two types of Roku streaming devices – Roku streaming players and the Roku Streaming Stick®.
Roku streaming player
A Roku streaming player connects to your TV using a Premium High Speed HDMI® Cable just like a cable set-top box or Blu-ray™player. Plug in the power cord, connect to your wireless network and activate your Roku account to start streaming.
- Note: There is NEVER a charge to create a Roku account.
If you are connecting to an older television, some Roku players also include a composite connector. You can use the product comparison chart to learn which players work with your TV.
Roku Streaming Stick
A Roku Streaming Stick does not need a separate HDMI Cable, instead it plugs directly into an available HDMI input on your TV. The power adapter can be connected to the USB port on most TVs, or plugged directly into a wall outlet. After your Streaming Stick starts up, connect to your wireless network and activate your Roku account to start streaming.
- There is NEVER a charge to create a Roku account.
- The USB port on some TV’s may be unable to power a Streaming Stick.
The Roku Streaming Stick is an ideal size should you want to take it with you when you travel.
